Nuapada: Demonetised 500 notes may have been painful for most but a Class XII student of Khariar College has shown a rare feat of scientific innovation by generating electricity by recycling the notes. He can light a 220 volt bulb and also rotate a fan using the electricity from the notes.
Lachhman Dundi, a college goer from Nuapada claims producing as much as 5 volts of electricity from a single 500 note. Once the silicon strip hidden inside a 500 note is exposed to sunlight it produces 5 volts of energy and then on connecting it with a copper-silicon transformer through a wire it can produce electricity enough to light a bulb, explained the young innovator.
Dundi says he would be able to produce 220 volts of energy from 12 volt output that could light a bulb or even rotate a fan.
The innovation caught the attention of everyone including the Prime Minister’s Office after reports regarding this began flashing in the media, including Discovery Channel.
Meanwhile, the PMO has directed Science and Technology department of Odisha to send a detailed inspection report of Lachhman's innovation.
Following the directive, Special Secretary to Odisha Government, Anjana Prusty has ordered Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department to ascertain the truth behind the new findings.
The district administration has said that it would provide all kinds of support to inspection team.
