Bhubaneswar: In a huge relief to electricity consumers in Odisha, Energy minister Pranab Prakash Das on Wednesday said there would be no power cuts in the State till May 20.
Talking to media persons after a meeting on power management in the State, the minister stated, “However, during the peak season, demand will be 150-200 megawatt more as compared to last year. We would try to extend the tenure of power banking contract expiring on May 15 through which we are bringing power from others states to meet the demand-supply gap.”
The next decision on power cuts will be taken after a review meeting on May 15, he added.
At present, though the State needs 4,000 megawatt during peak hours, 400 mega watt is being brought through power banking from Delhi and Punjab.
