Malkangiri: Three months after the first Japanese Encephalitis patient brought to the Malkangiri district headquarters hospital for treatment, number of JE sufferers at the hospital has been nil since yesterday evening, said the ADMO (public health) Kalyan Sarkar on Wednesday.
Talking to newsmen, Sarkar stated, “The district administration and public health department officials would be relieved as no JE patient is undergoing treatment at neither the ICU nor paediatric nor special ward of the headquarters hospital from yesterday evening.”
Regarding ongoing vaccination drive since December 5, the ADMO said, “As against the target of 49,692 for vaccination of 1-15-year-old on December 5 and 6, total 41,660 kids have been vaccinated and the district administration has got 84% success rate. To provide vaccination to the kids who were absent in schools or did not get vaccination due to some reasons, catch-up programme will be held on Wednesday and Sunday. Besides, community level vaccination drive will organised for those who were unable to get the vaccine so that the district administration will ensure no child in the district is left out.”

Total 175 vaccination centres are functioning in the district to vaccinate 1-15 years old against the Japanese Encephalitis.
The ADMO added the administration will create awareness among people to bring their child to hospital immediately for treatment in case they suffer from fever, diarrohea, vomiting or headache.
