Bhubaneswar/ New Delhi: Amidst reports of a possible cyclonic storm creating panic among people, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday announced that there is no cyclone threat to Odisha.
Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, head of Cyclone Warning Division of IMD in an exclusive interview to OTV, said that the depression has turned into a deep depression and is likely to weaken in coming days.
“There is no chance of the deep depression further intensifying and there is no possibility of a cyclone,” said Mohapatra.

Mohapatra further informed that the deep depression is moving northwest and in the evening it was centered some 30 kms from Kolkata.
The deep depression is likely to move slowly west-northwest wards initially during the next 24 hours and subsequently it is likely to move north wards and start to weaken thereafter.
However, under its impact, several parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand would experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours till October 10, said met office sources.
