Bhubaneswar: DGP RP Sharma today clarified that the Chief Minister has not directed him to probe into chit fund accused Subhankar Nayak's presence in the BCCI Box of Barabati Stadium during India-Sri Lanka T20 match on December 20.
Sharma told mediapersons, "The chief minister has not given any directive to undertake a probe into the incident."
Expressing similar view, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh said the DGP has not given any written directive to him. "If we get an instruction, we will look into different angles of the matter," Singh added.
The DGP's clarification came following reports in media that the CM had directed him to investigate the matter.
On December 20, Nayak was seen among top VIPs in the BCCI Box of Barabati Stadium during the T20 match.

The BCCI Box is reserved for top class officers, ministers, sports persons and OCA members and only those with VVIP passes.
Nayak, who was arrested by CBI on November 18, 2014 for his alleged links with Seashore Group, was granted conditional bail by High Court in August 2017. It was alleged that Nayak acted as a middleman between the Seashore Group and influential persons in the State. His diary had also mentioned names of some top class bureaucrats during the raids by CBI.
