New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The Centre is mulling to increase the number of seats in National Institute of Technology (NIT) for female students as only 2,500 female students have taken admission to the NITs across the country this year as compared to 3,900 last year.

Taking cognizance of the declining trend of female students taking admission in NITs, the HRD ministry is considering adding extra seats from next year along the lines of IITs, HT reported citing sources.
