Berhampur: With the new block of the Berhampur Industrial Training Institute (ITI) handed over to the Indian Institute of Science Education Research (IISER) on Tuesday, regular classes of the institute are all set to commence from August first week.
The newly constructed second floor of the ITI building was handed over to a three-member IISER team led by Director, BK Singh, by the ITI principal Dr Rajat Panigrahi in the presence of the additional district collector.
“As per the instruction of the chief secretary in a review meeting held on March 31,we have officially handed over the new floor to the IISER authorities today. Construction of the third and fourth floor of the building has started and will be handed over to the IISER authorities soon after its completion,” Panigrahi said.
He said the new floor has 16 rooms with an area of 14,000 sq ft.
He said the IISER authorities will start regular classes in the first week of August after completing the laboratory infrastructure work.
Talking to media persons, the IISER Director said the renovation work of the new building will start very soon. “We have decided to commence regular classes after completing the construction work of the laboratory and classrooms,” he added.
