Cuttack: Ganga- Jamuna, the conjoined twins from Nayagarh have been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after preliminary tests at Sishu Bhawan here in Cuttack on Sunday, official sources said.
The hospital authorities shifted the newborn babies joined at stomach to ICU after conducting a CT scan and ultra sound and other preliminary examinations.
The doctors treating the conjoined twins stated that their condition is not stable due to which the babies have been kept under observation by a team of medical experts at Sishu Bhawan.
The twin girls were born to Kishore and Sumitra Dutta of Sarankul in Nayagarh district on Friday at a Private Nursing Home and were shifted to Sishu Bhawan on Saturday.
Odisha health minister Pratap Jena later reviewed the health status of the conjoined twins and held discussion with the doctors.
Jena had also announced that the Odisha government will bear all the medical expenses of the conjoined twins and make provisions for their treatment outside the State, if required, in future.
