Balasore: Rejecting the talks on any form of alliance between BJD and Congress, chief minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik today said there is no scope for any such kind of arrangement between the two political parties.
Talking to newsmen after a public meeting at Simulia, Patnaik stated, “The Congress have always neglected the people of Odisha.”
Notably, on Wednesday, BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahtab created a flutter in the political circle by saying the regional party would consider to make an alliance with Congress, if need arises.
Mahtab told OTV exclusively, “I don’t see any logic behind the ‘equal distance’ policy in case of Congress as the national party doesn’t remain the same like before. The BJD will make an amendment to its stand, if required.”
The Cuttack Lok Sabha MP added, “The BJD will not have any issues to present the demand of the State before the Centre in association with the non-BJP political parties.”

Commenting on a possible grand alliance proposed by the Samajwadi Party, Mahtab said, “If the SP has thought about any such plans, it cannot be termed as illogical.”
Ruling out any change in BJD’s stand on the alliance formation, the party’s parliamentary party spokesperson Kalikesh Narayan Singhdeo said, “Our party’s policy is very clear in this regard. We will not form an alliance with either BJP or Congress.”
Asked about the grand alliance, Singhdeo replied, “Let the Mahamenta take shape and things get clear on which parties are joining it. If any proposal comes for us to join thereafter, we will think over it.”
