Bolangir/Baragarh: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated a slew of welfare projects in Bolangir and Baragarh districts.
During his one-day tour to the western districts, Patnaik unveiled the hostels for the girl students at Padmapur women's college and Bindhyabasini College in Paikamala. Similarly, the CM also inaugurated the hostel at Nrusinghanath High School.
Patnaik laid down the foundation stones for widening of Padmapur-Paikamal road under Biju Expressway Yojana and development for the Satibhatta airstrip.
Later, he also opened the new medicine and paediatric wards at Bijepur hospital.
Likewise, the chief minister inaugurated the newly constructed road connecting Khuntasamalei to Daitarimunda in Patnagarh block of Bolangir district. A hostel was dedicated to the SC/ST girls at Parlimal under Belpada block. The new panchayat office building of Dhumamati and Tentulimunda in the district were also inaugurated by the CM during his visit to the areas.
Ahead of CM's visit, Bolangir police had taken the district Congress president and seven other party men into preventive custody apprehending eventuality. Some BJP activists were also detained while showing black flags.
