Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan zoo authorities today released the first pictures of the tiger cub born to tigress Ankita.
"Its weight is increasing and health condition is good. The eyes opened on January 24. The cub will be vaccinated after completion of two months," Nandankanan director Sisir Acharya said.
The cub is being fed by the zoo officials as it has been separated from its mother. A special official has been engaged to look after the newborn animal, Acharya added.
The weight of the cub during birth was 1,100 gram while it has increased to 1,920 gram, he maintained.
Tigress Ankita gave birth to two cubs on January 12. One of two cubs died a day after birth. However, the tigress was seen not taking care of her cub. So, the zoo authorities rescued it and started taking care of it, said sources.
