Jeypore: The Koraput Central Cooperative Bank's (KCCB) mobile banking service has become a thud after two years of its launch.
Four vehicles rolled out under the KCCB's mobile banking for remote villages in undivided Koraput district have been rusting away after being left unused on the bank premises.
ATM machines installed in the vehicles have also stopped functioning.
Since the past six months one mobile banking vehicle has been parked in Laxmipur whereas another one is lying dysfunctional near the Tikiri LAMPS office in Rayagada.
Prasad Behera, a Gunupur resident said, "Though the government has taken a good step, now the facility has been discontinued."
Vidya Shabar, another Gunupur resident stated, "For the past six months the mobile banking facility has been stopped."

When authorities of the KCCB were contacted, they blamed poor internet connectivity for discontinuation of the mobile banking facility.
AK Samal, executive officer at KCCB Jeypore said, "When the internet network is poor, how can we expect ATM machine to function."
