Bhubaneswar: With 2019 elections in sight, the BJP has put five central leaders including union ministers in charge of the 21 Lok Sabha seats of Odisha.
A blueprint regarding the saffron party's strategy was chalked out at the state executive meeting held in Bhubaneswar today with the newly-elected Panchayat representatives. Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, Prakash Javadekar, senior leaders Anil Jain and Arun Singh have been given the charge of preparing a strategy to overthrow the BJD government in Odisha.
These five leaders have been tagged as five Commanders of BJP president Amit Shah's 'Mission 2019' and asked to launch intensive campaigns to promote development works of the Modi government with the focus to strengthen the party’s base.
According to sources, Amit Shah has divided the respective 21 LS seats in five divisions.
While BJP National General Secretary Anil Jain has been handed over the responsibility of Sambalpur, Bolangir, Bargarh and Kalahandi, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar has been given charge of four Lok Sabha seats- Bhubaneswar, Puri, Berhampur and Nabarangpur.

Similarly, Union Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been given charge of Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack and Kendrapara, while union minister Jual Oram has been assigned Sundargarh, Koraput, Kandhamal and Aska. Arun Singh has been put in charge of Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak.
“I have been given charge of four Parliamentary seats. The base in these areas will be strengthened starting from the booth level, and we will prove it after winning these seats by a big margin,” said Anil Jain.
Apart from this, BJP while approving the Odisha unit’s political resolution has decided to target the Odisha government in as many as 12 major issues including the mining scam, poor healthcare services and education and poll funding irregularities.
Targeting the ruling party, Dharmendra said,” Even the Supreme Court has established BJD’s involvement in mining scam and looting poor people.”
Meanwhile, in reply to the allegations made by the BJP, BJD spokesperson Amar Satpathy said, “After failing to get expected result and people’s support, they have no other options left and are making such statements.”
