Bhubaneswar: In a major turn of events in the disappearance of the tribal KISS student, Rama Chandra of Dantipara in Bondaghati of Malkangiri district, the Bonda Janajati Samaj today filed a counter FIR against one Mukund Padiami who had lodged a complaint at the Mudulipada police station on Tuesday. He had alleged that various media agencies are spreading false rumours on the missing student and blaming Kendrapara MP Baijayant Jay Panda for being involved in kidnapping of Rama Chandra.
As per the counter FIR lodged today, the Bonda Samaj claimed that Mukund belongs to Koya community and questioned how he could file complaint on behalf of Bonda Samaj.
Apprehending conspiracy, the Bonda Samaj has called for a meeting on May 4 to discuss on various issues including the persons involved in the conspiracy and the motive behind it.
Bonda Samaj President, Surendra Naik, alleged, "In the report, Bonda Samaj has been mentioned. The complaint was not ours, and we have lodged a counter case to find who has written our name in the complaint that was filed yesterday."
"Bonda Samaj is being used as a weapon for politics. I request them not to politicise this. Rather they should expedite search to find Rama Chandra and hand him over to us," said Khairaput Block Chairman, Kumudini Kirasani.
However, police and Mukund Padiami are yet to comment on the counter FIR.
On the other hand, RTI activist Subash Mohapatra today moved Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and filed a petition in connection with the missing Bonda student. In his petition, Mohapatra has alleged that KISS is not registered under the Juvenile Justice Act.
"I demand an investigation into the case of missing tribal student, Rama Chandra Mandra. There are certain guidelines and directions of the Supreme Court. The organisation has violated the orders of the Supreme Court and not registered under Juvenile Justice Act," said Mohapatra.
Meanwhile, the CWC also stated it had informed the authorities of KISS to follow the required guidelines and assured that it would look into the matter besides further steps to be taken. "We will look into it and decide what can be done. But till now KISS has not registered itself under JJ Act. We had informed them and also apprised the Collector about this. It would be good for them if they register without any delay, "stated CWC member Benudhar Senapati.
It may be mentioned here that the report on the missing Bonda student of KISS – Ram Chandra Mandhra was first telecast on April 26 after the missing boy’s mother and family members informed a reporter of OTV. Two days later on April 28, Rama Chandra’s mother lodged an FIR at Mudulipada police station and later filed a petition in the Orissa High Court.
On May 1, the family met ST and SC Development Minister Ramesh Majhi who assured action after discussion with authorities of the institute.
While the family members have alleged that Rama Chandra didn’t return home from the school, the KISS authorities have been claiming that the student had gone home during the summer vacations and didn’t come back.
