Bhubaneswar: With mystery deepening around the sudden disappearance of a second-year student of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, Senior officials of Odisha police on Tuesday reiterated that efforts are on to trace him.
DGP RP Sharma today informed that a detailed investigation is being conducted while the police of three States including Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal are on the job.
Suhail Aijaz, a resident of Kupwara district in J&K and pursuing MBBS at the institute since 2016, left his hostel on February 9, and has been missing since then.
"So far we have not got any tangible information regarding the student joining any terrorist organisation. We are in contact with police of other States including Central investigating agencies," said Sharma.
Sharma further revealed that so far they have not got information regarding the missing student's facebook and other social media activities which are also being verified for some clues.
Earlier, the second-year student had informed the authorities of the institute that he was going to Chandigarh with his friends to attend a wedding ceremony and would be back on February 17.
However, the AIIMS authorities had lodged a missing complaint after Suhail did not turn up at the hostel on February 18.
DG Kashmir SP Vaidya said that Suhail's last location was traced to Howrah and his family in Kupwara district are being questioned for further information.
"So far we have not got any links about the student’s link with any terrorist organisation while further probe in this connection is on,"said Vaidya.
