Berhampur: Close on the heels of bomb hurling on a BJD leader's vehicle at Polsara village near Niali of Cuttack district, unidentified miscreants today evening opened fire at the vehicle of former Mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC). However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
Currently a BJP leader, ex- mayor Siba Sankar Das alias Pintu was on his way when near Nilakantha Nagar Mandir in Gosaninuagaon a few miscreants intercepted and fired few rounds of bullets at the vehicle.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation into the incident. However, Das has not registered a complaint with the police yet, sources said.
In another firing incident on January 7, gunshots were fired at BJP activist Manoranjan Meher’s residence in Pada village of Bijepur block in Bargarh district. Police later arrested two persons for their alleged involvement.
