Minor girl’s body recovered from under debris by ODRAF

Rajgangpur: The body of a minor girl, who was buried under the debris following a landslide at a construction site here, was recovered today, after more than 24 hours. The deceased was identified as Sulochana Toppo.

According to sources, Sulochana, while working at a bridge construction site at Lamoli village in Rajgangpur of Sundergarh district, had been trapped in a landslide along with her friend and fellow-worker Sabita.

Though, Sabita was immediately rescued from within the debris, Sulochana was buried 30 feet under it. Two JCB machines and fire brigade personnel were continuing efforts to rescue her but in vain.

Sulochana was finally recovered dead today with support of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team from Rourkela.

Meanwhile, locals have blamed the poor security arrangements of the construction company for the incident.
