Minor girl, granny killed by neighbour in Ganjam

Berhampur: A minor girl and her grandmother were killed in an attack by their neighbour in Badiamba village under Hinjili police limits in Ganjam district this morning.

The victims of the attack were admitted to the MKCG hospital in a critical condition earlier in the day where they succumbed to the injuries.

The accused attacked the woman and her granddaughter with a sharp weapon when other family members were away in farmland.

Though the exact reason behind the murder is not known, family members of the accused said he was suffering from a mental disorder.

However, father of the deceased minor girl Muku Sethi said, “The accused is not suffering from any mental disorder disease as claimed by his family members. Though we had no quarrel or dispute with him, I don’t understand why he killed my daughter and mother.”

A villager said, “After a chase, locals nabbed the attacker who was trying to flee after committing the crime. Later the accused was handed over to the police.”

Police have reached the spot and started investigation.
