Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to lash parts of Odisha over the influence of low pressure system formed over Bay of Bengal, meteorological department today said in a statement.
The low pressure-turned-depression which crossed south Odisha coast close to Puri is likely to move west-northwestwards and thereby gradually weaken.
Under its influence, heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall is likley to occur at one or two places in interior parts of the state.
Similarly, one or two places in coastal districts are also likely to experience severe thundershowers in the next 24 hours.
Strong surface wind with speed reaching 45-55 kmph and also going up to 65 kmph from south-eastern direction is likely to hit on and off the coast.
In view of the rough sea conditions, fishermen are advised not to venture into sea .
A cautionary Signal Number Three (LC-III) has been hoisted at major ports in state.
