Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha sizzled under intense heatwave on Saturday as the mercury soared above 40 degrees Celsius mark in 12 places.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded maximum temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius in Bolangir followed by 43.2 degrees Celsius in Jharsuguda and 42.6 degrees Celsius in Sonepur.
Similarly, maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Sambalpur, 42.1 degrees Celsius in Hirakud and 42 degrees Celsius in Titlagarh.
The maximum temperature recorded in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 39.2 degrees Celsius and 38.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
As per IMD the heatwave conditions may prevail till April 27. Temperature is likely to rise further till 45 degrees Celsius in most places of Odisha.

While, rain is likely to lash interior parts of Odisha in the coming few days due to a cyclonic storm over Bay of Bengal, it will have no effect on the rising temperature, added the IMD.
