Bhubaneswar: Hinting at abolition of the block grant system in schools and colleges, School and Mass Education minister Badri Narayan Patra today stated a final decision will be taken soon as the discussion with the striking teachers has reached final stage.

Speaking to media, Patra said, “Discussion between government and teachers has reached final stage and at any moment the decision may be declared.”

The grant-in-aid system will be implemented soon after the abolition of block grant rule, he added.

The government had held discussions with the teachers thrice earlier. But these discussions remained inconclusive.

Block grant school teachers and lecturers have been sitting on dharna at the Lower PMG for last 17 days.
