Maoists kill villager in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Maoists today killed a tribal man, suspecting him to be a police informer, at Panasput village under Chitrakonda Tehsil of Malkangiri district.

As per reports the ultras arrived on a boat at Spillway Ghat near Chitrakonda and gunned down one Sama Pangi. Sama, originally a resident of Jantri village under Kalimela Tehsil, was hiding in Chitrakonda since last two years following an attack by the red rebels.

After killing Sama, the ultras also took away a boat stationed at the ghat with them.

"Nearly five to ten Maoists arrived and murdered one Sama Pangi at Chitrakonda Ghat. They doubted him to be a police informer. Their intention is to terrorise the people who are supporting police and administration and want development," said Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena.

Sama's body was sent for post-mortem and police has stepped up combing and search operations in the area after the killing.
