Balasore: Deteriorating healthcare in state has been a perennial problem but mankind losing morals and humanity seems way too much to accept. In such an inhuman act, a villager denied an expectant mother in Kasindipur village under Khaira block of the district access through his house to board an ambulance stationed in the village to take her to the hospital.
The woman's husband, Siba Tudu, called an ambulance after she complained of labour pain on Friday.
Sources said the 108 ambulance had reached the village on time and was stationed very close to their house.
However she was denied access to a road that passed through another villager's house to reach the ambulance soon. The family members, along with some neighbours carried her on a cot through a muddy road, which was almost one kilometer more than the shortest route, to reach the ambulance.
However, all effort went in vain as the woman reportedly delivered in the ambulance while on her way to hospital.
