Keonjhar: Tusker terror once again gripped Champua range of Keonjhar district after a person sustained grievous injuries in an elephant attack here on Saturday.
The injured has been identified as Bijaya Nayak of Balada village.
The incident occurred in the morning when Nayak was going to the fields for agriculture work. Suddenly, a wild elephant grabbed him by the trunk, lifted him off and threw him away.
Critical, he was rushed to a nearby health centre and later shifted to DHH as his condition deteriorated. Nayak has reportedly sustained multiple bone fractures in his right hand and left leg.
Meanwhile, locals alleged that incidents of wild elephants straying into the area have become frequent and that the forest department was indifferent in checking the menace.
