Puri: In a sensational incident, a couple travelling on a motorcycle to Puri was shot at by chain snatchers leaving the husband dead. The wife was also seriously injured in the attack.
According to sources, the chain snatchers stopped the couple, who were on their way to Puri at Satasankha. While the miscreants tried to snatch the necklace from the neck of the woman, a scuffle broke out between the miscreants and the couple. The miscreants then opened fire, informed sources.
“We stopped at a roadside small shop to have some beverages. After we resumed our journey, two persons came from behind and pushed me out of the bike. Then they stopped and snatched away my chain and fired at my husband. They fired two shots one of which hit my husband’s chest. They have also taken my bangles,” said the injured wife, who is being treated in the hospital.
