Malkangiri: The sexual assault case of the girl student in Gobindpali college took a new turn today as the Mathili police today arrested lecturer Ajay Kumar Sutar, who was a witness in the case.
Informing mediapersons about the development, Malkangiri DSP Manas Barik said, “Sutar has raped the girl student and attempted to falsely implicate three students in the case,” adding that the lecturer had tried to give the case a different angle.
The police had been questioning Sutar for the past four days after detaining him.
The girl student had mentioned Sutar as a witness in her police complaint.
Three college students were detained by police for questioning after the girl student lodged a complaint on November 9.
According to the initial complaint filed with the Mathili police, three non-students took the Plus II girl of the college to a room, stripped her naked and video-recorded the whole incident on their mobile phones on November 7.
