Bolangir: Demanding immediate rehabilitation of the displaced people and distribution of ex-gratia, members of the Lower Suktel Mahila Mahashangh today staged a dharna near the spillways work site of the Lower Suktel project prompting the Bolangir district administration to deploy three platoons of police at the spot.
Around 100 women staged the agitation near the spillways work site of the project. According to latest reports, more women were also seen joining the protest.
It is noteworthy that residents of 15 villages held a meeting few days back and decided to form the Mahila Mahashangh to present their demand for speedy rehabilitation of the project-affected people.

Earlier there was a difference of opinion with some groups protesting the Lower Suktel project whereas others supporting it citing availability of better irrigation facilities with the completion of the project.
