Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today disclosed the modus operandi of robbery at the residence of retired High Court judge Justice P.K. Mohanty in Sector-11, CDA of Cuttack about a week ago.

Police Commissioner R.P. Sharma said the leader of the robbery gang was nabbed from Chandikhol on the basis of some clues from a loot incident in Salepur that took place on May 22. Besides, the police have captured five persons after the dacoity gang leader was traced.

Sharma added a manhunt is under way to capture the other members of the gang.

Elaborating on the way the looters had operated at Mohanty’s residence, the Police Commissioner said the robbers were not aware that they were looting a judge’s house. After laying hands on cash and jewellery of the house, the robbers locked the retired judge along with his family members in a room.

Sharma said the looters also took away mobile phones from the retired judge and his family members so that they would not be able to inform the cops about the incident. Later the accused threw the phones in mid-way as they did not leave behind any clues, he added.

The police commissioner said the members of the dacoity gang are natives of Kendrapara district and had executed their dacoity plans in the same way at different places.
