Puri: Mortal remains of litterateur Chandrasekhar Rath were consigned to flames today at Swargadwara in Puri in presence of his near and dear ones.
Ahead of his cremation, personalities from all walks of life paid their last respects to the doyen of Odia literature in Bhubaneswar and Puri.
Rath was recently selected by the Government of India for the Padma Shri award for his contribution to the field of literature.
Born on October 17, 1929 in Bolangir, Rath did his post-graduation in English from Canning College in Lucknow.
Rath was quite popular for his fiction and non-fiction writings and won over the hearts of Odia literature lovers for at least five decades.
His notable writings include – Anek Banya Pare, Samrat O’ Anyamane and Mo Ghara among others.
