Bolangir: A youth was critically hurt in a firing incident at a liquor shop in Gandhinagar Pada here today afternoon.
The injured youth was identified as Santosh Sahu, a salesman of the liquor shop. He has sustained bullet injuries on his stomach.
Sahu was earlier rushed to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Bolangir and later shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla, after his condition deteriorated.
While the reason behind the incident is not certain, police is interrogating two youths detained after the incident.
Bolangir SP Ashish Kumar Singh informed media persons, "The firing incident took place after three persons arrived there to take liquor. Staff of the liquor shop and one among the three persons was injured in the firing. We have detained two persons for interrogation."
According to sources, three youths had gone at around 3 pm to the foreign liquor shop, situated at Gandhinagar Pada, to drink liquor. There a quarrel broke between them for some reason resulting in the firing in which two persons were injured, one is the salesman of the liquor shop and another is one among the three youths who had started the firing, identified as Jitu Mishra.
Police personnel including the Bolangir SP, SDPO and Inspector-In-Charge of Town police station had reached the Bolangir DHH for interrogation.
