Nabarangpur: An unidentified miscreant looted gold ornaments worth lakhs from Laxmi temple in Nabarangpur district late Monday night. The incident has been captured by CCTV installed in the temple though the miscreant is yet to be identified.
According to reports, the burglar broke the temple doors late last night and decamped with the valuable ornaments including the daily-used ornaments used for Maa Laxmi.
The incident came to light when the priest came to open the temple this morning and raised an alarm seeing all the ornaments missing.
Getting information, local police rushed to the spot and began investigation based on the footage of the CCTV installed on the premises of the temple.
"The wardrobe was found broken. CCTV has captured a man while breaking the temple door, however, he has not been identified as his face was covered. Investigation is on based on the footage and the miscreant will be nabbed,” said a police official.
