Bhubaneswar: After a gap of nearly 48 days, the Kunduli gang rape survivor returned home after Child Welfare Committee (CWC) handed over custody to the family on Tuesday.
The development came after the minor girl was discharged from SCB Medical College and Hospital yesterday.
As per the direction of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), arrangements would be made for her education at tribal residential school at Champakendar in Pottangi block.
“We have put some conditions before transferring the custody of the girl to the family. They cannot take her out of Koraput without necessary permission and if the family wants any assistance for education, we will make provisions for that also,” said CWC member, Pratima Rath
Earlier yesterday, tension prevailed on the premises of SCB Medical College and Hospital during the time of discharge of Kunduli gang rape survivor from the hospital.
According to sources, the girl’s family was not willing to keep her at the hospital for further treatment citing life threat.
