Cuttack: At a time when the family members of the Kunduli girl are staging demonstration in New Delhi seeking a CBI probe, Odisha Crime Branch officials on Monday gave a clean chit to the report of the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL).
Addressing a press conference, Crime Branch SP RB Panigrahi today stated that examination by the experts of Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Kolkata revealed no traces of semen on victim's clothes, similar to the findings of the SFSL.
The victim's clothes particularly the inner garments were sent to CFSL after media highlighted an inter-divisional report of the SFSL that mentioned presence of 'semen traces.'
OTV had earlier published the findings of the preliminary report of SFSL that traces of semen of two persons were found on victim's clothes.
However, the final report submitted to Court said that there were no such stains.
Later, Odisha DGP RP Sharma had directed re-examination of the victim's clothes by CSFL after concerns were expressed over the credibility of SFSL report.
"There is no ambiguity in the SFSL report as further examination by CFSL clearly stated that only human blood was found while no semen or saliva was detected," said Panigrahi.
Panigrahi further stated that as per the CSFL report, the stains available on the victim’s clothes yielded "identical autosomal genetic profile of female origin from one and the same female individual only.
Senior officials of Crime Branch further stated that after the allegations of gang rape were brought on October 10, 2017, the girl was brought to Kunduli CHC and after preliminary treatment, the doctors had suggested no 'internal injury' on her body.
The same day, the girl underwent a medical examination by a team of doctors led by Assistant Professor Sudipa Das of FMT department, MKCG. The medical team then had also highlighted that there were no signs of sexual assault.
