Ramesh Chandra Behera of Ganjam district and an acquaintance of the deceased was arrested from Bhubaneswar yesterday and was forwarded to the court today, informed city DCP Praveen Kumar. Amiya Nayak (28) was found murdered in his rented house. His neck and face had sharp cut injuries. He was a filigree artisan and was vending silver ornaments in the city for the past two years.
According to police, Ramesh, a village mate of Amiya had come to the city from his native place to visit Baliyatra festival and had stayed with the latter on Thursday night at his accommodation. Ramesh was reportedly on the look out of grabbing a gold chain Amiya was preparing for his would-be wife as his marriage was fixed for February next year, police added. Police have also recovered the gold chain from Ramesh.
