Jatra artiste electrocuted to death

Jajpur: A female artiste of Baghajatin Lokanatya, Susmita Khatua alias Mani, was electrocuted to death at Duburi village under Sukinda block in the district on Sunday.

Khatua was to enact in a play of Baghajatin Lokanatya in the village and therefore she was staying here in a rented house. The iron door of the house was charged with electricity after coming in contact with a live electric cable. She touched the door to open it not knowing the danger awaiting.

After Khatua suffered the electric shock she was rushed to Community Health Centre, Danagadi last night where doctors declared her brought dead.  As a mark of respect, the proposed play of Baghajatin Lokanatya was cancelled after the incident.

Police has registered an unnatural death case and initiated an investigation.
