Bhubaneswar: Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, was celebrated across Odisha on Monday with people in large numbers gathering in temples to offer prayers.
‘Bhajans’, ‘Kirtans’, ‘Pujas’ and fasting marked the auspicious day here in the Capital city. People thronged the Ram Mandir and ISCKON Temple here and offered prayers.
“We had to stand in a long queue. But after the ‘Darshan’ of Lord Krishna, I am feeling good,” said a devotee Ramamani Sahoo.
“The grand ritual of the birth of Lord Krishna will be performed in midnight and the devotees will get ‘Prasad’ after that,” said a member of ISCKON Temple, Radhakant Das.
Elsewhere in Puri, Janamashtami was also celebrated with religious fervour at Lord Jagannath Temple.
