Rourkela: Police on Saturday night busted racket for allegedly betting on the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches and arrested three persons in Rourkela.

Three laptops, electronic gadgets used to run the operations, 33 mobile phones and Rs 9 lakh has been seized after the raid by a special police team at Narla road area.

The accused have been identified as Musad Alam, Md. Parvez and Uttam Shah.

Nine other members of the betting racket fled the spot while a special team has been formed to nab them, police said.

Police sources said that particular gang had links with other betting racket operators in Kolkata.

On April 29, Sambalpur police had also busted an inter-state gang allegedly involved in betting during the ongoing IPL cricket matches and arrested six persons in this connection from the city.

The gang had been operating in the city since the start of the IPL matches and used to bet for every ball, over, wicket and other minute aspect of the game.
