Bhubaneswar: Terming the surgical operation carried out by the Indian Army commandos in the PoK last night as a ‘Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)’, army officials today said these kind of activities will be carried out more frequently in coming days.
“Tactical attacks including surgical strikes have been going on in different ways since the day of the Uri attack. Media was informed about the operation on destruction of launch pads yesterday to tell people of the nation that we are doing something, not sitting idle. This thing will go on as part of the SOP in future days”, Lt General KP Dhalasamant told OTV over phone today.
He added, “Whether Pakistan accepts the surgical operations and tactical attacks or not is a different matter. If terrorist launch pads in Pakistan were destroyed with shocks and surprises, it will be more effective. We should not wait for the terrorists to enter our cities and terrorize us.”
Expressing similar views, Major General SD Mohanty stated, “We should not think the surgical operation as a retaliatory step to the Uri attack. It is a reply to Pakistan who has been engaging in stone throwing activity across the border.”
Mohanty further said, “The launch pads of terrorists along the LoC which were getting armed facilities from Pakistan army were targeted. Therefore, the bases used by the Pakistan army and terrorists were targeted.”
Affirming the preparedness of the Indian Army, Mohanty added, “We are ready for any eventuality. The operation is a message to the world about the firmness of India’s political leaders and its military capability.”
SR Sinho, Defence expert, said, “As India has taken the Uri attack seriously this time, concrete steps have been taken to isolate the Pakistan in the world community.”

Notably, the Indian Army last night carried out surgical operations in PoK killing two Pakistan army personnel and 38 terrorists.
