IMD issues lightning alert for 20 districts in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The regional office of India Meteorological Department has issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for 20 districts in Odisha till 6.30 pm today.

As per the latest bulletin of the met department, the alert has been issued for Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Boudh, Puri, Khorda, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul districts.

People in these districts have been advised to take shelter in safe places and avoid venturing out till 6:30 pm.

Some districts will also experience heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, the met department stated in its release.
