Homeguard shot dead in Cuttack

Cuttack: In a shocking incident, a homeguard was allegedly shot dead by some assailants at Paschimakachha village under Jajatpur police limits, police said on today.

The deceased has been identified as Kirti Ranjan Masanta, homeguard of Jagatpur police station in the Millennium City.

According to reports, villagers first spotted the body this morning and then they informed the Jagatpur police.
A pistol was also found near the body, reports added.

As per the latest reports reaching here, Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora reached at the spot and started investigations to nab the culprits.

The reason behind the firing is yet to be known.

It may be recalled here that Al-Qaeda operative Abdur Rehman was arrested from this village on December 16, last year.
