Burla: The State Health and Family Welfare department entrusted administrative and financial powers to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) director Prof Ashwini Pujahari.
In a letter written to the VIMSAR director, Additional Secretary of H&FW department Surjit Das said the powers have been allocated as per VIMSAR Act, 2014.
Prof Ashwini was appointed in June as a permanent director of the medical institute. He has been a point of discussion for his unique way of work to provide better health services and bringing in reforms in medical teaching.
Two days back, Prof Ashwini caught an Associate Professor of VIMSAR treating patients at a privately-run clinic during duty hours. However, no action could be taken against the Associate Professor as the VIMSAR director did not have administrative power.
