Bhubaneswar: Heavy rains are likely to lash most parts of Odisha under influence of a low pressure forming over Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours, predicted the regional office of India Meteorological Department (IMD) today.
The cyclonic circulation over East-Central Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood is likely to take the form of a low pressure in the next 48 hours. Under its influence, moderate to heavy rain is expected to lash coastal and interior parts of the State till October 9.
There will be a slight change in weather conditions after October 9, added the IMD.
"The presence of a cyclonic circulation can be seen at Odisha border and the low pressure situation will be clear after data analysis. Heavy rains are likely to lash coastal areas like Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Ganjam and Nayagarh within the next 48 hours. Later, it may shift to interior Odisha or other parts of the State," said IMD's Regional Center Director Sarat Chandra Sahu.
