Bhubaneswar: Low pressure-induced rains lashed many parts of coastal Odisha this morning causing water logging at many places, especially in the twin city of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, making life difficult for many.
Heavy rains were recorded in Cuttack, Khurda, Paradip and north Odisha. While the millennium city of Cuttack recorded the highest rainfall of 92.2 mm, Bhubaneswar had 69.2 mm and Balasore 26.8 mm.
Due to the incessant rains, artificial lakes were created in the bylanes and roads at several places in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. People, especially school-going kids and office goers, had a harrowing time negotiating the roads.
Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has predicted an increase in rainfall from tomorrow. While the southwest monsoon has not been very active in the State so far, rains are expected for the next two days only due to the low pressure, it said.
