Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to remain under the grip of severe heat wave conditions on Sunday with both Bolangir and Sonepur turning out to be the hottest place at 43.2 degree Celsius, closely followed by Titlagarh at 43 degree Celsius.
As per the regional office of India Meteorological Department (IMD) maximum temperature above 40 degrees Celsius was recorded in 13 places across State.
The mercury touched 42.1 degree Celsius in Hirakud, while the temperature was 42 degree Celsius in Sambalpur, 41.7 degree Celsius in Angul, 41.2 degree Celsius in Jharsuguda, 41.1 degree Celsius in Bhawanipatna, 40.7 degree Celsius in Talcher, 40.6 degree Celsius in Malkangiri, 40.3 degree Celsius in Dhenkanal, 40.2 degree Celsius in Phulbani and 40 degree Celsius in Sundergarh.
The maximum temperature recorded in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 39.4 degrees Celsius and 38.4 degrees Celsius respectively.

Meanwhile, Director of IMD's regional office Sarat Sahu said, the heat wave will continue to prevail till April 27 but nor'wester rain is likely to lash most parts of the State in between.
