Cuttack: In a major relief to Tapan Saha, main accused in R. Vineel Krishna abduction case, the Orissa High Court on Friday granted bail to him.
On May 24, a local court in Odisha had recommended life imprisonment for two people including Saha accused of kidnapping R Vineel Krishna, a former collector, five years ago.
Additional district judge of Malkangiri had found Maoist tribal woman Marri Kussi, or 'Divya', and village-level government worker Saha guilty of conspiring and kidnapping Krishna, the then collector of Malkangiri, in 2011.
The court had acquitted a third arrested on account of lack of evidence.
Krishna and a junior engineer were abducted by a group of left wing extremists while visiting a village to check the progress of a development work.
