Groom's father, uncle killed in road mishap on wedding day

Kalahandi: In a tragic incident, two members of a marriage party were killed while five others were critically injured in a road mishap near Khairmal in the district on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as groom's father Mohan Sunani and uncle Chandra Behera.

According to reports, nearly seven persons of a marriage party including Mohan Sunani were travelling in a Scorpio vehicle from Raipur for his son Shiba's marriage in Bhawanipatna.

However, the vehicle skidded off the road and fell off a bridge near Khairmal after the driver lost control over the vehicle while overtaking a truck.

It is suspected that the mishap occurred due to rash and negligent driving.

Both Mohan and Chandra died on the spot and five others who were injured in the road accident have been admitted to the hospital while the condition of three of them is said to be critical.
