Bhubaneswar: A Special Court for CBI cases granted the investigation agency an additional three days’ custody of Odisha-based tainted chit fund company Green Ray International Ltd (GRIL)’s Managing Director (MD) Mir Shahruddin here on Friday.
The CBI had produced him in the court and demanded an extension of another six days remand for further interrogations but was given only three days’ custody of the accused.
The CBI is expected to investigate more on the links of Shahruddin within the state and also within other states and is also expected to investigate his links with gold, mining and garments business and also links with politicians through various middlemen.
Notably, Shahruddin was arrested by the CBI from Kolkata on February 3. He was brought to Bhubaneswar on a transit remand on February 5 and produced in the CBI Special Court which allowed the CBI to take on six-day remand.
