Kendrapara: In yet another act of atrocity against women, a college student was kidnapped and later raped at knife-point in Kendrapara district.
The incident occurred when the girl was returning home after attending her classes in college in January. The incident came to light after the girl’s family lodged a police complaint in connection with the incident yesterday.
According to reports, a youth identified as Smrutiranjan Samal of Angulai under Sadar police limits abducted the girl and raped her in an isolated place at knife-point.
In her complaint, the girl alleged that the youth was stalking and harassing her since long. The accused youth was also threatening her to marry on the basis of some objectionable photographs which he had taken after rape, the girl alleged.
“The youth threatened to make the pictures viral,” the girl wrote in her complaint.
Based on the complaint filed by the girl, accused Smrutiranjan has been arrested under IPC sections 376, 363 and 506.
Senior police officials informed that medical examination of both the victim as well as the accused has been conducted while further investigation in connection with the case is on.
