Girl attempts suicide in Blue Whale Challenge!

Jharsuguda: A girl is now battling for life after attempting suicide allegedly as part of a challenge in the online suicide game Blue Whale under Belpahar police limits in Jharsuguda on Monday.

The victim, a nursing student from a Bhubaneswar-based institute, attempted suicide by consuming sedatives at her residence in Jharsuguda, sources said.

Though the family feigned ignorance over the girl’s involvement in the Blue Whale Game, from preliminary police investigations it is suspected that she could be a victim of the online game that tends to drive youngsters to commit suicide.

The matter came to light only after the parents of the girl admitted her at a private hospital whose authorities reported the incident to local police.

According to reports, the girl had arrived at her home under Belpahar police limits from Bhubaneswar on Puja vacations yesterday.

Earlier, a girl had reportedly taken up a challenge of rubbing chilies in her eyes in Cuttack. The video of the girl performing the task had also gone viral in the State.
