Ganja smuggling racket busted, 4 held

Phulbani: The Excise department officials on Thursday busted a Ganja smuggling racket in Phulbani in Kandhamal district and arrested four persons in this connection.

Acting on a tip off, the officials raided suspected spots in the city and seized about 35 kg of ganja worth around Rs 5 lakh from four peddlers.

The arrested have been identified as Rajeev Digal, Jashobant Digal, Nabaghan Digal and Susant Bindhani. The officials also seized a car used by the peddlers.

Official sources said the traders used to transport Ganja from the city and sell them in various parts of Bhubaneswar and its nearby regions.

Further investigation is on to trace the middlemen and other members of the racket.
